Now there is a mouthwash for the kids, completely safe, tasting good and looking great too. Till now only adults used mouthwashes to get a clean mouth, because they were worried about bad breath and the germs and bacteria forming in the mouth. Mouthwash was supposed to be kept away from kids, and if they ever used it, they were warned several times not to swallow it. But now there is one that the kids can enjoy and benefit from it too. Even though kids’ mouthwashes are not meant to be swallowed, they are not as harmful for the kids as the adult mouthwashes which have a fair amount of alcohol in them. The colours and flavours chosen for the mouthwashes are kids stuff and they love using it every time they have finished brushing their teeth. It gives them an incentive to brush their teeth regularly, whether it is with a regular or electric toothbrush. For older children too there is a mouthwash which is also alcohol and sugar free. There is no fluoride as well. It is a good idea to introduce kids to gargling and spitting. The gum flavoured mouthwash is also attractive for them. In fact there is one mouthwash for kids, which has a cap with a flash. The cap flashes for 30 seconds indicating to the child how long he should rinse, and when it stops flashing the child should spit it out. Such gimmicks could motivate the child to brush his teeth and then use a mouthwash. Parents should buy only kids’ mouthwashes for their children, because the alcohol content in adult mouthwashes can be as high as 37%. A kids’ mouthwash like kids’ toothpaste contains a high degree of fluoride and the main ingredient is sodium fluoride. This is a great protector of teeth and gums and prevents cavities. Pediatric dentists are of the opinion that cavity formation is most common among small children, who don’t brush regularly, because the parents have not imbibed the good habits of brushing and cleaning the mouth with a mouthwash.
